What are your kids doing online right now?
When we were kids it was all about stranger danger, well dangers for kids have only got worse, paedophiles are a lot more prevelant within the community and world wide the child porn business is a 20 billion dollar industry. Though Governments and law enforcement agencies are doing everything they can to help combat it, it will only stop when kids become smarter than their predators.

To make this happen we need education and this can start at home, talk to kids about the risks and help them by enforcing some basic rules;

, be absolutely vigilant when chatting to people you have never met,
The Internet is one of the greatest resources we as humans have ever had access to, however it is also one of the most dangerous places to hang out.
Never give out personal information - This would include the obvious things like phone, address or bank account details but also includes things like what your town and street is like, charactristics about your home, your daily movements, your school and teachers names etc, all this information and more can allow a cyber predator to build a profile about you and then locating you becomes very easy.
Don't trust strangers - predators can be very patient, and appear very friendly and trustworthy, but unless you have actually met someone, there identity is really uncertain. A picture pasted on a social site or emailed could be a fake and therefore very misleading. Sadly when using social networking sites or other chat programs you can never be 100% certain who you really are taliking to.
The Internet can a fun, educational and useful tool but sadly it can be a very toxic place as well and extreme care should be taken when connecting.
